RivFest 2018 - 10/07/2018

Dear parents and carers,

RivFest18 is back for its 3rd Year. For the first time the event will take place across 2 days in multiple venues around Warrington’s Cultural Quarter.

The event, organised by the River Reeves Foundation was set up in memory of the Viola Beach guitarist River Reeves and his band mates Kristian Leonard, Jack Dakin and Tomas Lowe along with their manager Craig Tarry who all tragically died whilst on tour in Sweden in 2016.

RivFest exists to provide a platform for emerging artists and to provide support for talented young musicians looking to take the first steps in their own musical and artistic careers. Each year the River Reeves  Foundation awards scholarships of up to £500 to enable struggling or disadvantaged young artists to “create alternate futures”, a phrase coined by Coldplay’s Chris Martin during their 2016 Glastonbury headline set which paid tribute to Viola Beach. Coldplay are proud to be passionate supporters of the River Reeves Foundation.

All proceeds from RivFest 18 this year will go to the Future in Mind bus project in partnership with Arriva NW providing mental health support in local schools. University Academy Warrington will receive staff training and support as well as regular use of the fully customised bus to support with a variety of school initiatives to support pupils’ mental health and well-being. The scope of the support will be dependent on the amount of money we can raise.

Rivfest18 will be a truly family friendly festival. At the heart of the festival outside the Parr Hall on Saturday 14th July from midday to 6pm will be our Rainbow Fields Family Zone in Queens Gardens.

A huge variety of stalls, crafts, activities and entertainments especially for families and children including live music and story-telling can be enjoyed by all the family.

The attached flyer details all the bands playing across Friday and Saturday. Simply put, we have a fabulous line-up on Friday night at The Parr Hall from 7pm and on Saturday, over 50 bands playing for 10 hours from 1pm across a range of venues in the town centre culminating in Fickle Friends headlining on Saturday night at The Parr Hall.

Buy a ticket, get a RivFest8 wristband and simply wander across the venues listening to the best up-and-coming bands across the North West.

Thank you for your support and we hope to see you in Warrington this weekend.
