Year 8 students hone their foreign speaking skills at the University of Chester - 06/07/2018

On Wednesday 4th July, a group of Year 8 students studying Spanish at University Academy Warrington visited the University of Chester to sharpen up on their speaking skills. During the visit, students took part in various dynamic activities across German, French and Spanish. Associate Modern Foreign Language teachers from the University of Chester delivered the engaging activities, helping the Year 8 students boost their confidence, pronunciation and vocabulary required for their new GCSE course. 

Mr Taylor, a Key Stage 3 Learning Coach at the Academy, said: “This was a great opportunity for Year 8 students to put everything they have learnt this year into action and it was fantastic to see how enthusiastic they were throughout.” 

Mr Monks, a Teaching Assistant within the Science department commented: “The University provided a fantastic opportunity for our students to practice their language skills and pick up new techniques.” 

Mrs Lloyd, Head of Department for Modern Foreign Languages said: “The students were excellent ambassadors for UAW!” 

Micheal Dada, a Year 8 student at the Academy, added: “This trip shown us the importance of learning different languages in order to communicate with people from different countries.”
