GCSE students experience a range of art genres across Liverpool - 06/06/2018

On Tuesday 5th June 2018, a group of Year 9 and 10 Art students from University Academy Warrington visited both The Walker and the Tate art galleries in Liverpool. The visit was planned in order to allow students to explore and experience a range of different art genres and give them some inspiration for their coursework. The visit will form part of their contextual studies coursework and the students are now expected to create a visual diary of the artwork they found most inspiring.

Amy Mitchel, teacher of Art at the Academy, said: “This was such a valuable out of the classroom experience.  Students were able to appreciate first hand such a wide range of art– from a traditional Rembrant to a more modern Lichtenstein”

Rebecca, a GCSE student at the Academy, added: “I haven’t been to an art gallery before. I was amazed to actually see the work of so many famous artists who I’d only ever seen examples of in books.”
