Career opportunities and future pathways explored at careers fair - 08/02/2018

A careers fair was held at UAW as part of a PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) day in order give students information and access to post-16 opportunities. Seventeen providers, covering public services, universities, colleges and industry leaders were in attendance. Each provider offered a stall filled with information and presentations.

The Academy students were extremely confident in approaching the providers and enjoyed the opportunity to ask in person their most burning questions regarding their future career paths.

The Academy would like to thank each of the providers in attendance for inspiring our students, some of whom had maybe doubted their career pathway now realise it is within reach.

As well as the array of stalls available in the main hall, other activities were also taking place throughout the Academy, including The Rejuvenate Project. The Rejuvenate team has been working in high schools and colleges across North Wales and Cheshire offering thousands of young people a raw and hard-hitting insight into the reality of how crime, drug use, sexualised behaviour and poor choices can damage a person’s life through experiential talks.

In addition to this, the workshops and mentoring programmes offer additional support to some of the most dis-engaged young people in the education system across the region. This approach has not only given young people a safe and informative environment to express their concerns and fears but has also helped them to change their behaviour. The students said they found the session extremely engaging and were able to talk freely about their own experiences and feelings.
