Photography Workshop for GCSE Art - 06/12/2017

Students studying Art at GCSE level had the opportunity to work with a professional photographer, developing their technical photography skills looking at aperture, focal length, shutter speed and composition. Throughout the session they focused on the subjects of portraiture and still life, capturing some excellent shots which they plan to edit in future Art lessons.

As part of the new GCSE specification this will enhance students Unit 1, giving them a range of practical based recording techniques. Learning outside of the classroom gave a creative and refreshing approach to considering different forms of art and capturing ideas that will help students form their personal ideas over the next few weeks.

Mrs Mitchell, teacher of Art at UAW, said: “It was wonderful to see the students engaged with all aspects of the day, students displayed some really creative ideas that they were able to capture with support from a professional photographer.”

Samantha, UAW Student, said: “I thought Angela the photographer was really inspiring and I loved how we could go outside and capture some shots of how the ice created lots of good focal points, even if it was freezing!”
